TUKL-NUST Inaugutration Ceremony

Prof. Dr. Andreas Dengel (Director DFKI and Professor TUKL, Germany) and Engr. Muhammad Asghar (Rector NUST) inaugurated newly established TUKL-NUST R&D Center on 1st December 2015 at SEECS campus of NUST. Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Hassan Zaidi (Principle SEECS), Dr. Nadeem Ahmed (Senior HOD Software), Mr. Habeel Ahmad (Senior HOD EE), Dr. Faisal Shafait (Lab Director TUKL-NUST R&D Center) and Faculty/Researchers of NUST, Pakistan and DFKI, Germany were also present on the occasion.

TUKL-NUST R&D Center is newly established research institute, established in NUST in collaboration with University of Kaiserslautern (TUKL), Germany and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. The main objective of the research institute is to provide a platform to carry out state of the art research between the partner institutes. The TUKL-NUST R&D center provides research facilities in the fields of document image processing, video processing, deep learning and artificial intelligence. Currently, TUKL-NUST R&D center has a number of students and researchers, directed by Dr. Faisal Shafait, Dr. Asad Anwar Butt, Dr. Ahmad Salman and Dr. Muhammad Imran Malik.

Prof. Dr. Andreas Dengel and Engr. Muhammad Asghar stressed the significance of collaborative research, which will not only assist build a better society but also enhance relationship between the two countries. Dr. Faisal Shafait also presented ongoing projects in the research institute to the audience.


1st International Workshop on Pattern Recognition Applications

International Workshop on Pattern Recognition Applications was organized on 02 December 7, 2015 at School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (SEECS), NUST, Islamabad. The main purpose of the workshop was to bring together experts from various application domains to highlight recent research in the Pattern Recognition field and discuss possible future directions and collaborations.
